The Other Side

Contractor says:
"We've used this system on hundreds of jobs; it doesn't need testing again. And besides, we have a full time QC department. Don't waste your money."

Contractor thinks:
"The potential embarrassment of failing one of the tests in front of the consultant would be disastrous. He would lose confidence in us and our system and it would delay payments"

"We don't want the risk of something we had planned and costed for to be questioned and then have to come up with an alternative that may be more costly or take longer to obtain. Having a third party involved increases this risk and increases paperwork. We just want to get in and get out - fulfill our interpretation of the requirements as economically and efficiently as possible."

Owner (reading contractor's mind) says:
"Sorry, this is my investment and my money - I am going to be sure that it is spent giving me the maximum value I'm entitled to under the contract."
