Ignitability of Exterior Wall Assemblies

Various codes specified around the Middle East identify NFPA 268 as the Standard Test Method for Determining Ignitability of Exterior Wall Assemblies. This method exposes the exterior of the wall specimen to a radiant heat source to determine if off-gassing would ignite from an external heat source, such as fire in a neighbouring building, rubbish skip, vehicle, etc. This method is typically specified for Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS), External Thermal Insulation Composite System (ETICS), Resin / Epoxy Based Stone Composite Panels, Lightweight Cementitious Composite Panels containing combustible elements, and certain types of Sandwich Panels.
