IBC Code 2009
The International Building Code was first published in the year 2000 by the International Code Council based in Washington D.C. In order to create a single model code for use throughout the US and, (with some national modification) the rest of the world, the three codes most commonly in use, the BOCA, the UBC, and the SBC were distilled into a single document. The Emirate of Abu Dhabi adopted the IBC in January of 2010 with a planned phase-in of implementation, and is presently expected to become law in January 2012.
