Glass Testing
A lot of what we do relates to glass. It is a fascinating material and there are myriad ways in which combinations of heat treated or annealed, body tinted or clear, coated or uncoated glass can be combined in laminates and insulating glass units. Glass has inherent defects and the processes have inherent limitations as well. For some time we have been providing Ad Hoc Tests (where no standard exists) to investigate the behaviour of glass in particular circumstances. We now own the GASP equipment for measuring surface stress in heat treated (tempered, toughened) glass. We use this to confirm that glass which arrives on site is properly heat treated, and also to assist smaller glass processors with the quality control of their heat treatment lines. We are looking to provide other types of formal glass testing in the near future. Testing to ASTM C1279 with the GASP equipment is within our scope of accreditation unde ISO 17025 with ENAS.
