We are a privately held engineering firm providing independent quality assurance and testing services for the exterior wall systems of large buildings, testing of fire containment systems in buildings and fire resistant materials, and Special Inspections and testing of concrete, steel, welding etc., as mandated under Chapter 17 of the International Building Code. Our large testing laboratory in Dubai holds accreditations by UKAS and ENAS to ISO 17025 for a number of curtain wall and fire tests. Accreditation for Special Inspections under ISO 17020 has been applied for. The company has branches in Dubai (the main test lab, plus Facade Consulting Division) and Abu Dhabi (Special Inspections).
Started in 1995 by Tom Bell-Wright, providing specialist third-party consulting to architects and developers for their curtain wall projects, the business has grown to be the major company in the region providing both consulting and full scale testing for curtain walls, and most recently the only facility capable of testing fire rated doors, walls and partitions, and flame resistant materials. Between our different departments, Consulting, Curtain Wall Testing, Site Inspection and Testing, Fire Testing, Administration, and Management, we are a close team of over 30 people.
Curtain Walls have to keep the weather out and the people in. We try to make sure that they do this reliably for the life of the building. Premature failure is likely to drastically reduce building life because replacement or repair is a massive undertaking requiring a vacant building, extensive exterior access and replacement of all interior finishes in perimeter rooms. For this reason prudent developers insist on having an independent curtain wall consultant on board for all their tall buildings. Extending our services to Fire Testing and to the Special Inspections mandated in the new building codes to be the responsibility of the developer, provides a greater range of beneficial services for promoting the safety and longevity of buildings.
